  Service at this Safeway is just absolutely atrocious. You can tell the employees are absolutely unhappy to be working there. The program they use for their self check out is terrible. It doesn't read that you've placed your product in the bag each time--so it won't let you scan your next item. You will end up just standing there waiting for someone to help you--and wow, getting assistance is as easy as pulling teeth. I even went to a Manager one time who was standing right in front of the Customer Service Area talking to another employee and he brushed me off and said someone will be there to help you. Only plus about this Safeway is that they have a great bakery.

  It suits my very, very basic needs and it's around the corner from my house. BUT, there is hardly EVERRRR more than 2 check out lines open and by that I mean, 4 self-serve registers and ONE "full service" lane open, 8/10 times I go. I've patronized this store for the last 11 years.... Seriously, it's like this all - the - time! When I used to buy (refrigerated) Kombucha from there, I once found an entire shelf of expired bottles. They were at least 10 days expired, some up to one month. I would then have to assume that no one even bothered to check them for at least that long and maybe much, much longer. I work at a "neighborhood grocery store" (we wear Hawaiian shirts) and rotation is a daily activity. Every time we stock new perishable items, we HAVE TO read the date on the items on the shelf and make sure nothing gets missed. We even rotate our back stock. The management here at this Safeway is lacking, to say the very very least. Do better. The ENTIRE SAFEWAY CHAIN must do better. Especially with competition just around the corner.
